Christmas Dinner, etc.

After sitting the Yuma heat and dust all summer, Jim & Katie are making it look like new again.

Right outside the park driveway, we have a nicely decorated home

Dave is relaxing before the big Saturday evening dinner

At the dinner.  Very few captions are necessary.....

Janet and Anna.  Anna can still wear her beautiful wedding dress!

They have to be looking at a phone

We had two trays of Jalapeno Poppers today.  Both kinds were excellent!

Since we have some new people in the park, we're starting some new traditions!  There was plenty of food to go around.

Bob is checking if it's time to start dishing it up!

Our special guests.  Mario and Maria...

A nice center piece for the "biker" table

Host and Hostess.  The best Park Owners in Yuma County!  Bob and Lynda.

The most senior, and one of the newest full time Winter residents.  Marlys is 90 years old and had been coming here for over 20 years.  Susan is here because she had an old husband. :-)  It is her 2nd year here, and the first year of a permanent unit. And they are both beautiful ladies!

Thought Susan (Zmean1) was going a little light....but....this was only her first plate :-)

Outside the clubhouse door during dinner

A couple days ago.  First time we've seen fog in Yuma

Pete and Dave

Romy is the prettiest South African in our Park!

A big thanks to everyone that helped and to the cooks that provided the food.  And, as always, to Bob & Lynda, and our managers Frank & Ruth.  Without them we would be here doing all this fun stuff.   I did take a lot more pictures, but didn't post the more blurry ones. This give you a good idea of the day, anyway.  Thank for taking the time to get this far :-)

December 2015

A new "all you can (or should) eat buffet in Yuma!
Just a few pictures for this post.   People are still coming into the park.  The weather has been perfect for the most part.  The City is getting into the Holiday Swing, with lots of activities.  Will be nice when all the regulars come rolling back to Lynda Vista!

Our favorite place to eat in Algodones.  There are a LOT of places, but we've been going to this one for several years.  Never a bad meal.

The entrance to Molcas Tacos.

Many of you will remember Idonna.  She had a nice park model here in Lynda Vista.  She sold it, but is back in town and just had her 80th birthday party!

She bought a larger place over in Mesa Verde.

Bob and Lynda have Green Thumbs.  Beautiful Hibiscus in their yard.  Of course, Janet shares them too.

Mario is welcoming Marlys back into the park. She's looking good!  This is her first day back after major surgery and 3 weeks in the hospital and rehab.  So good to have her back!

Thanksgiving Dinner 2014

Just finishing up the harvest in the Date Orchards.

Marlys has been in the hospital for a few days.  She's on the mend, and will be back in the park with her friends soon!

There are 5 full time units for sale here in the park.  This is one of them.

Myrna is hugging on Mario and his wife.  He's the "all around gardener, fix-it man, and general do everything guy" in the park.  Fine people.

Could handle these names, but not going to start adding, later down there will be some I don't know well yet. :-) Hope I got a picture of everyone.

The guests are starting to arrive...hmmm, we're all guests :-)

The park furnishes the turkeys, and other things.  The rest is pot-luck. Always more than enough to go around.

Janet,Sue, and James...The last table to get their food, but it was worth the wait

Ruth, our Manager. Her husband Frank, and Nancy.

Sunset over Rolle's Lynda Vista

Volunteers cook, prepare, and serve.  All the side dishes are buffet style

Happy people!

Ray just had a hip replacement less than a month ago.  His wife, Val, had foot surgery a couple days ago.  Always good helpers in the park, we let them off the hook today.  Just glad to have them there.

Starting to set out the food,  there was a LOT more than this.

Char just got back from checking out the dessert table.  She thinks it would be a good idea to start there :-)

Each table has a number. Then the numbers are drawn to see what order you get up to get your food.  Works well that way

Don and Jo are on the wrong side of the table today!

The young lady is Mario's daughter Maria.  Today is her birthday.

Lois and Sharon are struggling over the last bottle of wine!  All in fun, they were playing a joke on non-drinker Lois :-)

Under one of those tin foil covers, is a pumpkin cheese cake.  Yum!

Social hour starts an hour before serving time.  People enjoy visiting.  Most of us have only been in the park a short time, the season is just starting

Yep...Char got her dessert!

Frank and Don make a toast

Nancy is Don's sister.  She's new in the park this year.  And does a fine job of walking George...Don's very nice little dog.

Sue getting a little mushy. :-)  As you can see, some of the old timers here, know it's a good idea to bring a BIG plate to these potlucks

This table was the last number drawn to eat, but there was no shortage of food.

The turkey, potatoes, dressing and gravy are served, but you can always ask for more.

I went pretty light today

Janet and Sue. Good friends.  This was a good "welcome back" dinner, as well as Thanksgiving. Thanks Bob and Lynda, Ruth and Frank!!!!!

August 28. Mid Summer in the park

Aug 28, 6 AM  The kitties are out looking for attention

Sunrise over the park

Doesn't exactly look like Winter :-).  I rode in last night.  Had cooled down to 109 from 115 plus in the Imperial Valley. Since Marlys has two good A/Cs, I stayed in her motorhome (with her permission, of course).  Except for Bob and Lynda, and Frank and Ruth, I was the only one in the park.  It was quiet!

The Conti traveling home.  Frank suffered from a slight stroke, and is on the mend.  Thankfully, he seems to be recovering fine.

Morning greeters

There were several "early birds" out looking for a work. Or something.

The Green, green, grass of home.  Looks like Mario has been watering good

Our poor little Tangelo tree doesn't look very healthy, but it has a huge crop of fruit this year.  Can't wait for these babies to get ripe!
I had been on a 3 day motorcycle trip, destination was La Mesa, CA.  Stopped in the park on my way back to Kingman.  See you around the end of October, or when y'all get here!
